Lessons from our Disneyland Trip

It’s been some time since our last vacation! We decided to take an impromptu trip to Los Angeles since all our stars aligned. We wanted to spend a day at Disneyland because neither of us had been in years. I wanted to do as much as possible in our one day there but we were going during peak summer season and I was worried about lines. I’m happy to report that we had an amazing time and we learned some things along the way!

GoAheadFoodies at Disneyland!
Buy the Max Pass

I didn’t want to spend the whole day at Disneyland waiting in lines. So we decided to spend $15 USD per person on the Max Pass. This allowed us to make Fast Pass reservations on our phone instead of having to physically go up to a ride to grab one. A Fast Pass gave us a reserved time of when to go back to a ride and we could enter a line that is much faster than the standby line. By using this system, we were constantly going from one ride to the next! I know it can be pricey considering the Max Pass is only for one day and for one person but we found it to be invaluable.

Plaza Inn Fried Chicken
EAT AT THE PLAZA INN

Ok, so we like fried chicken. That’s probably not a secret if you follow our Instagram. When we found out that it was available inside the park, we knew we had to try it. The Plaza Inn is a cafeteria-style restaurant which was perfect for us! It had seating indoors (air-conditioned) and outside in the shade or sun. We were sitting down with our food within 5 minutes of getting to the restaurant.

For $17.99 we got THREE big pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a biscuit and green beans. This was enough food for the both of us. We saw a lot of other people ordering a serving for each person and in the end, they had lots of leftovers. This serving was enough for the both of us to feel full but still have a bit of room for afternoon snacks.

The green beans were unimpressive but I thought the gravy, potatoes and biscuit were well done. The biscuit was very soft and flaky and I liked dunking it with the gravy and potatoes (don’t judge me). We both agreed that the chicken was hot and crispy with nice flavoring on the breading.

Disneyland Dole Whip
TAKE A BREAK AT THE ENCHANTED TIKI ROOM

We walked about 30, 000 steps during our time in the park. That was a lot of walking! We felt pretty slow and sluggish around 3pm and knew we needed a break. We did a mobile order through the Disney app for some Dole Whip ice cream at the Tiki Juice Bar. Across from where we picked up our mobile order was the entrance to the Enchanted Tiki Room.

The Enchanted Tiki Room is where you can watch a show with singing parrots. It was 10 minutes long and provided the perfect opportunity to rest our feet and enjoy some air conditioning. We were also allowed to bring our Dole Whip in which was awesome!

CONCLUSION

We watched a lot of Youtube videos about other people’s tips and tricks before our Disney trip and that helped us plan a lot better. If you have time, we recommend that you do the same. We hope that our 3 tips have helped you. Disneyland was an amazing, fun experience and we hope you will love it as much as we did!
