You can make Taiwanese sausage very easily in your air fryer! Taiwanese sausages are considered quintessential street food in Taiwan, however we find ordering it in restaurants in North America doesn’t provide very good value. You can usually find Taiwanese sausages in freezer aisle at Asian grocery stores. This is not to be confused with Chinese sausages (lap cheung). Chinese sausages are a bit too salty to eat as a main dish but Taiwanese sausages are a great mix of savory with a hint of honey sweetness. We love it when it goes alongside rice!
We typically portion 2 sausages per person plus a veggie as a side (gai lan or bok choy works very well). Usually at restaurants you’re paying for the same items but the dish can be anywhere from $12 – 14. That’s too expensive! Considering a pack of Taiwanese sausage at the supermarket should be about $7-9 for a pack of 6. We also buy the good quality sausages too. Follow our recipe and you’ll never have to eat it at the restaurant again.
USING YOUR AIR FRYER
We like using the air fryer to make the Taiwanese sausage because it is so easy to clean. Grease doesn’t splatter anywhere like when we cook it in a pan. We also don’t add any additional oil when cooking yet if you cook in a pan, you will have to do so. Our air fryer is from Costco but you can get yours at most retailers online. Our recommendation is get an air fryer that has digital buttons. Air fryers with stickers as the buttons wear off over time. You won’t be able to remember which button is which!
We highly recommend getting an air fryer for your kitchen because it honestly opens up your world to so many different options of cooking. The airfryer makes the skin of these sausages so juicy yet retains the juicy meat inside. And usually the trays are dishwasher friendly which is great for lazy chefs like us. If you’re uber lazy, you can get liners for your air fryer which makes cleanup even easier.
ENJOY YOUR MEAL
